This machine is much quieter and is nicely designed. It automatically powers itself off, to conserve energy, so you have to hit the ON button when you go to use it (which is different from most other shredders). It quickly and easily shreds a stack of papers (including staples) and also easily cuts up credit cards. It cuts everything into very small pieces, so you know you're secure! We really like this shredder and highly recommend it! (It is also MUCH cheaper here on Amazon.com than your typical office retailers!!!)
