I spent some time reviewing shredders on many internet sites and finally decided on a Fellowes jam proof cross cut shredder, only to find out that there was some kind of supply problem with their manufacturer in China. Every other model within my price range had decidedly mixed reviews. This shredder from SimplyShred was the only one that had no reviews, good or bad. But the features were right and the price was right, so I decided to take a flyer. It sold through Amazon for a lower price than the manufacturer offered themselves even though they actually fulfilled the order.
It arrived in good condition and promptly through Fedex. As to its operation, I really have no complaints. It started life with a large challenge when I fed it a 30 gallon trash bag full of old bank statement, bills, etc. It took me an hour or so a day for several days, but it never balked. You do have to open the bin and re-settle the cuttings as it fills up since it has an automatic shut off sensor when the bin shows full. But the cuttings tend to pyramid and fool the sensor. No big deal! The other quirk is in removing the plastic bag when the bin is full. There is a piece of metal on the bin that fits into a slot on the shredder enabling the power to commence. It's a safety device to prevent the machine from operating while the bin is out. However, if you are not careful, this piece of metal will tear up the plastic bag as you are removing it and, oops!.. you have clippings all over the place. But other than those two quirks, this has been a good purchase. It's fast, it's efficient, it's quiet and reliable. I can't speak to it's longevity yet, but it gives me no reason to doubt the quality of its manufacture.
