The shredder has 3 slots: one for paper, one for CDs, and one for cards. It does not need AC power to operate: you'll just crank it up to get it to shred your stuff. For shredding papers, I can only get it to do at most 2 sheets at a time (I think the recommended max limit is 3 sheets, I forgot). For single sheets, it turns smoothly; for 2 sheets, it's a bit harder to turn, but still manageable. Thus, it's definitely not for shredding lots of papers, but more for just the occasional stuff you need to shred. Besides, the bin it stands on is not that large, so I'm pretty sure after shredding about 10 sheets, you'll need to empty it.

My only gripe is that there's no easy way to grip the unit when you're cranking the lever. I manage by just holding the side and carefully turning it and not processing more than 2 sheets at a time (so that it won't be too difficult to turn). You'll need to set it on a flat, stable surface to operate. Also, the shredding unit doesn't really "lock" onto the bin, so you have to be careful about turning the lever so that it won't tip over.

I have not tried the CD shredder nor the card shredder. Note though, that when shredding the card, you'll have to put it in, short side first. I'm doubtful about its effectivity, because it looks like if you don't properly align the card so that the magnetic strips, name, and card number line up to the blades, then you'll end up with your personal info not getting shredded at all.

Overall, it's a good shredder for its price and I am satisfied with my purchase.
