Swingline EX10-05 Super Cross-Cut Shredder, 10 sheets, 1 User (1757393) Review

I have tried three shredders in as many months... a new one for home, a new one for work and a new one that I gave to my parents. This is the third one and I'm using it at home. For comparison, the other ones that I chose were:

Fellowes Powershred W-11C 11 Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder (3103201)

and

AmazonBasics 12-Sheet Cross-Cut Paper/CD/Credit Card Shredder with Basket

Compared to the other two, which I suggest you also give a look over, this one has three features that make it stand out:

1. The plastic shred for cards & CD's/DVD's has it's own separate bin inside to keep it from contaminating your shredded paper if you recycle it.
2. It does have a window to check on paper level
3. For the number of pages it can do simultaneously (10) it is fairly compact with a small bin.

The shredder itself is not my preference because of one missing feature: It is not an "auto on" shredder. The manual recommends that between shredding you are to turn the shredder on/off button to off. Most other modern shredders of this capacity are "auto" meaning there is no light that stays on and you can simply turn it on by inserting paper.

That being said, the sound of the motor sounds like this shredder is made by Aurora, which was my first ever shredder.

I rated this shredder 3 stars instead of 5 for two reasons:

1. No auto on/off feature. Instructions say to turn it off after each use.
2. The price of this shredder is almost 1/3 more than the two competitors I also got recently without any marked superior feature other than keeping the shredded plastic separate.

I plan to continue to update this review as I've used the shredder longer, but in general, I still prefer the Amazon Basics as the best/safest all around shredder of the three. If you need one for pure capacity (shredding those nasty credit card offers without opening them) I still would recommend the Fellows that I mentioned above.
