GBC 7704280 - 24-Sheet 3230ST Electric Two- and Three-Hole Adjustable Punch/Stapler, Gray Review

I got this through my office supplier at work (so, not from Amazon) because I do a lot of hole punching and thought it would save me space and energy. I was half right. It's about 8" deep, which takes up quite a bit of desk space and is really overkill. But I love that it easily toggles between 3 and 2 punches and there's a knob on the side to help clear jams (although you have to hold the knob in while you turn it, which is awkward). One thing that's not listed anywhere in the instruction manual: there's an on/off switch on the back. Which sounds silly for me to mention, except I returned the first one we got because I plugged it in and it didn't work, and there was nothing in the instruction manual that said, "turn it on, dummy." Also, there is no power light.

But my biggest problem with it is the stapler. I already had a nice electric stapler, but I didn't really have the space or outlets for two, so I donated the one I had to a coworker. Now I regret that. The stapler sounds like a bullet going off. It staples way too close to the edge of the paper and frequently misses the top page or two of a stack. You also can't adjust it, unlike every other electric stapler in my office. And it likes to fire multiple times at once, or not bend the staples all the way to actually grip the paper. Yeah, there's a light that tells you when it's out of staples. That is very close to the least useful feature I could think of.

I'm not sending this back because I did need an electric hole punch that could do 2 or 3 holes, and this was the only one available to me. But I really wish they had done a better job designing the whole thing, instead of focusing on just the hole punching and letting everything else be mediocre at best.
