Our old shredder was just a ribbon shredder, and a pitiful 5 sheets at a time (albeit 5 sheets would get stuck, the motor would overheat, etc). We had been delaying cleaning our filing cabinets because of our pitiful little beast. We shredded 3 garbage bags of stuff the first weekend, and this shredder is still going strong. The cuttings are small and the basket holds a LOT of shredding. We are very happy with this shredder, as the blades are STILL sharp after all the abuse we put it through in the first few days. The blades are more of a die cut than traditional blades, and they make short work of any job. The shredder is less noisy than our old one, and credit cards and CDs really get destroyed well. Competing web retailers were nearly twice the price for a comparable product.Thank you amazon!
