StarBrite Inkjet Photo Paper 4"x6" Review

I have about 15 packs of this paper that I purchased on the cheap from another website, about a year ago. I wasn't expecting great results from it, and decided I'd only use it once I ran out of the Canon photo paper I had on hand. (I'm printing with a Canon PIXMA IP4000, using High Quality on Glossy Photo Paper settings).

Today, I'm working on printing out some photos for a portfolio, and ran out of my Canon paper. I had this paper, and some HP Premium photo paper. I did a few prints on the HP paper, but was disappointed in how they turned out. I decided, just for giggles, to see how this super cheap paper worked. And I'm amazed at the difference. Whereas the HP paper prints took several minutes to dry, and ended up with ink pooling and muddy details, the Starbrite paper performed beautifully. The prints dried almost instantly. The color saturation is good (not quite as good as the Canon paper, but definitely much truer to life than the HP paper). The details are crisp, and the overall effect looks very much like a print from a film camera.

Like I said, I'm shocked at how well this paper performed. If the price of other photo papers is too high, this StarBrite paper should make a very acceptable substitute.
