Despite what Royal advertises, there's no way this machine can shred 10 sheets at one time, not even if they were paper thin. The best it can cut is 5 average sheets. You can try more, but believe me, it will jam! Anything less and it does a competent job of shredding, leaving not much for would be identity thieves to use. The receiving basket is pretty puny and you can't use a bin liner for it as the shredder will fail to operate. Clean up can be a mess as often there's a lot of paper left in the shredder to come down. Some shredders off a "run on" feature where you can manually turn the machine on to prevent that, but the Royal does not. In some instances the machine will continue to run for reasons unknown, but in that case unplug it and manually clear the shredder and it should reset. I purchased this for $19.99 at a discount store, which would be about right based on it's overall performance. I couldn't see paying more than that to be honest. As far as Chinese made goods go this one is above average for durability and utility. We've had this for 2 years now, so it shows signs of doing well.
