Fellowes Powershred PS-12Cs, 12 Sheet Cross-Cut SafeSense Shredder (3271301) Review

I needed to replace my old Fellowes as it just stopped working mid shred. I had no idea I was suppose to be oiling it on a regular basis. It lasted for about five years so I wanted to get another Fellowes to replace it. I figured if I oiled it, it should last even longer. This one had what I was looking for, a higher sheet capacity, a slimmer profile, and a drawer to empty rather than a basket. The basket types are hard for me to empty because lifting the motor up is too difficult with RA. It's the drawer that's the problem. When I pull out the drawer there are still paper shreds hanging down and they get scraped by the drawer and fall on the floor. This requires a broom and dustpan or the vaccuum to clean up. Normally I only use the shredder for a sheet or two a few times a week. So I don't empty it every time. But, when I'm shredding a years worth of cancelled checks, and the shredder can only run 5 minutes with a down time of at least 20 minutes, and in that 5 minutes the drawer gets full, I'm constantly cleaning up paper pieces. Or my office space starts to look like a hamster cage. All in all it works great for the occasional use, but, if there's a stack of shredding to be done, it can get a little annoying.

I must admit, I had my doubts, but some of the reviews were positive. So I ordered this scanner, and when I plugged it into my Windows7 computer, a message box came us stating that it was searching for a driver. So I thought, here we go... But to my surprise, the driver was located on-line, and it installed with no errort on my part. I have tried to scan several bar codes, and it paste the numbers into whatever program I am using without any problems. I just bought a Movie Database from Collectorz.com, and it uses the UPC code on back of my DVD's to look up all the information about a movie. So now with my TaoTronics scanner, I should have my collection entered in no time at all.

Thanks for this great product, and I have already sent links to some of my friends as well.

Swingline LM12-30 Micro-Cut Jam Free Shredder, 12 Sheets, 20+ Users (1770055) Review

Picked up a GLM1130 replacing an older shredder I bought several years ago at warehouse. This item was purchased for use in the home, and I got such a great deal on it, it was in my price range. It is amazing.

For it's size it is pretty quiet. Once I got it up the stairs and located where we will use it, we gave it a try. I filled up the oil reservoir with about 60cc of oil that was furnished with it, placed the paper and plastic bag in the hopper area and turned it to automatic operation. Wow! No more worries about security. It puts out really small little shreds of paper. Additionally, it shreds credit cards and Data CDs. It shuts down automatically in nothing inserted to shred after just a couple of minutes.

It is pretty massive (off the pallet about 140#). In previous reviews about pros v. cons, it listed a shortcoming of it not being on wheels and the shredded remains of CDs and credit cards being dumped in with the paper. No so on this one! It has wheels and easy to move around, and it now has a little receptacle for the plastic to drop into.

Bags are pricy, and you have to use their oil as not void the warranty, but overall, the best shredder I have used. It will last for years and years with proper maintenance!

Fellowes Powershred P70CM 7 Sheet Cross-Cut Paper Shredder (34360) Review

If I'd read the reviews here for Fellowes shredders before buying one, I would have stayed well clear. As it was, I needed a cross-cutter saw this one (P70CM) on sale and bought it. It jammed on day 1. It has jammed numerous times since. Although the capacity states 7 pages, you're better off shredding just a couple of pages at a time, but be warned that they recommend the unit can only operate for 2min at a time due to shoddy engineering. 6 months after purchase, a document caused it to jam resulting in the motor shearing the teeth off the internal nylon gears (for an extra 10-cents these could have been metal...). The other point is the wire basket which at first looks stylish, but oozes paper dust, and emptying is a struggle as the shredder jams into it - this requires some effort to dislodge which causes you exert and bend the metal basket even more etc.etc. This shredder has now joined its own output. The 1-star is for the 6 months of limited use I got out of it.
