Swingline DS22-13 Strip-Cut Jam Free Shredder, 22 Sheets, 5-10 Users (1758575) Review

I love the schredder. It never jams and works quickly. However, the storage basket holds hardly anything and the shredder will not run until you have squished down the shreds or emptied the basket. it will also not run if the basket door is open, so you can't put a larger trashbag underneath. The shredder duty consists of shredding 2 passes, then opening the door to either squish down or empty. It makes the process very time consuming.

Fellowes Powershred DS-2 Safe Sense 8 sheet Cross-Cut Shredder Review

I went from a super cheap shredder, to cheap, to this one...so far so good. Certainly worth the extra few dollars for the extra page capacity and power. Also, I like the safety feature. My biggest disappointment is in the actual cut...to me, confetti cut should look like tiny pieces and not long strips of paper.

I like the design...can see how full bin is...has a nice handle...easy to empty. A tad bit disappointed in the run time...seems like it's better for people who shred as they go as opposed to our family who does massive piles of stuff at once. We're hoping that makes us convert to a shred-as-you-go habit...hmmm...perhaps a New Years' resolution in the making :-)

DBPower 2.4G Handheld Wireless USB Automatic Laser Barcode Scanner Reader High Speed NEW (White with Two Receiver) Review

I do own this 'generic' scanner. I bought 4 of these to help track inventory at my business. I wanted a wireless scanner that was accurate, effective and easy to use. This scanner has not disappointed me in any respect and I am quite happy with it, especially when you consider the price.

We got the BLACK model. I recommend it, since I think the white model may be slightly different (and may have a different charger plug cord). The black model has a typical round plug that you plug into the bottom of the scanner, in order to charge it. On the other end, the cord is a standard USB plug that you plug into your computer or ANY STANDARD USB CHARGING PORT, in order to charge. The cord does NOT transmit any data. It is only for charging. You might want to buy some USB Wall Charger Adapters if you don't want to use the USB port on your computer for charging. This barcode scanner does NOT come with a cradle, but it doesn't need one.

The instruction book is fairly simple though adequate. It also comes with a card that has some Barcodes on it. Save that card. Those barcodes are actually how you change the programming on the scanner, though you probably won't need to use them, since it is ready to go and set up for most applications right out of the box.

There is also a wireless USB adapter that you need to plug into a USB port on your computer, in order for your computer to communicate with the device. That was plug and play on my computers and as soon as I plugged it it, I could open a program and start scanning right into it. I do believe that the wireless USB adapter is necessary, since I do not think the scanner communicates with Bluetooth or standard WiFi. We use desktop and laptop computers running Windows 7 and 8, as well as our inventory control program. On one computer (out of over a dozen we tried) it did seem to have some interference with the wireless mouse we used on that computer, which also had a similar USB wireless port connector.

Range on the device was good and with it I could scan items in another room, 80 feet away from my computer base station. I have not made any attempt to verify maximum range, since I don't need more than that.

So far, no problems to report. I will try to keep you updated about any changes.

Fellowes Powershred SB-80 Shredder (3219001) Review

NOTE: Those of you looking for a cross-cut shredder should look elsewhere. The SB-80 is a strip-cut (long skinny pieces) so if you have identity-theft concerns or need your documents absolutely destroyed, seek other shredders. If you want a strong, quiet, 18 sheet at-a-time killer of paper, read on...

This thing eats 18 sheets of paper at a time! EIGHTEEEN. It eats credit cards. It eats CDs. Paper clips? Ha. This machine doesn't even break a sweat. Staples? Pffft. Not a problem. Those junk mail credit card offers you get in the mail? Feed the entire envelope directly into this shredder.

The SB-80 has a low, throaty rumble when it is running. The volume and pitch didn't increase as I added more paper either. Just a low rumble as it ate more and more paper. Ballpark decibel rating is 68. It was just loud enough to tell you it's working.

There are lots of status LEDs on the front panel that tell you exactly what is happening with the SB-80. The trash bin is a good size but I could see it filling up pretty fast. Power cord is about 2ft long.

The unit is on wheels too so it can roll around from room to room.

Unsure how long it will run before overheating. I fed it about 200 sheets before giving up.

Am very happy with this shredder. Should it do cross-cut? Perhaps...but then it might be louder, more expensive, or have less-capacity (fewer sheets at a time).

Fellowes Powershred C-320C 14-16 sheet Confetti Cut Shredder Review

Our office needed a replacement for a shredder that we had overused and mistreated for about seven years. Shredding, routinely, between 500 -3,000 sheets of paper per day with the curve rising quickly, we needed to find a machine that would 1) deal easily with a seemingly ever increasing volume of paper. 2) shred it into confetti-cut to assure complete destruction of confidential data and 3) had the capacity to shred not only paper, but plastic cards, CDs and to not be easily jammed by commonplace staples and the paper clips that people routinely fail to remove before shredding documents. After a goodly amount of research and discussion, we settled on this Fellows C-320C and, after several months of operation are pleased to report that it is meeting our needs and expectations in all ways.

Fellows is probably one of the better known brands of shredders. I own one at home that I purchased at COSTCO and am delighted with it's reliable performance after almost two years. I shall expect nothing less than that from this one at work. Not only does it 'handle' plastic credit cards, CDs, staples and paper clips - it has a separate slot into which cards and CDs can be inserted for destruction. The confetti-cut setting yields pieces 5/32" X 1 - 1/8"; small enough to ensure the security we require. It offers a choice of strip or confetti-cut settings. This may be important to you because the settings differ in their shredding capacities. Set on Confetti, it lists itself as having the capacity to shred 7,000 pages per day, and being able to shred 14-16 pages at one pass. Set on Strip-cut (7/32"), a simpler, somewhat less secure, but good for most common usages, it's daily capacity is upped to 14,000 and the number of pages that can be handled in a single pass (entry) to 26 - 28.

The width of paper is limited to 10" and the card shredding capacity is far more limited to one per pass or a total of ten per day on either setting.

Regular maintenance is limited to, as with most machines of this type, a biweekly lubing of the cutting element while running in Reverse for a minute. Hopefully, that's all it takes. It is all other Fellows machines have taken. The lubricant can be had from Fellows (their own brand) or, as I have discovered at home, good quality vegetable oil will accomplish the same thing.

The controls are simple, few and easily intuitive. There are only three warning lights: Door not closed, Paper jam and Need to empty the bin, and only four buttons: Off, Forward, Reverse and a Turbo Jam Release... just in case! The shredding feature itself is, of course, automatically activated as one would expect when material is inserted.

There are certainly other medium-heavy duty office shredders to consider, but we chose this Fellows and have had no regrets!
