Franklin TG-450 12 Language Translator Review

Unfortunately, you can't find even some easy words though you can find some advanced words sometimes.It's interesting. I entered 10 normal words and unfortunately it couldn't find all of them but half of it.The possibility to find the word is around 50%.So, it's not so useful for a researcher.You have to look up half of the words again sometimes.
But, for travel purposes and some daily phrases it's ok.and 12 language feature is great. I wish this product contained more words.

Royal ESV1 Electronic Bible PDA Review

This is exactly what I wanted! It is so convenient and I carry it in my purse wherever I go. It even fits in my pockets, so I can just take it anywhere I go and pull it out when I need it. I love being able to search references and key words. The glow button is great too, for anytime that I want to read at night but do not have light available. I use this for all of my Bible reading and in church. I would recommend this to anyone, as long as they do not mind that it uses somewhat simpler technology. For example, to bring up a specific reference, you have to first push the book button and find the book, then the chapter button and type in the chapter, and then the verse button and type in the verse, but it's not bad once you get used to it.

Ectaco EF500 Partner English-French Talking Electronic Dictionary and Audio Phrasebook Review

Before I traveled with this talking dictionary, I wrote a fairly scathing review. But after using it for 3 weeks in a French speaking country, I must change my tune. On the downside, the device does not work as well as free online tools. The audio isn't as clear or natural-sounding as you can find on the internet, and there is no option to type in a short phrase or sentence and expect a translation. Several features were designed for French speakers visting the U.S.(such as the Oxford English Dictionary and American history lessons) but the equivalent features weren't included for English speakers visiting France. On the up side ... when you type in a key word such as "throat" suggested phrases are often provided such as "Do you have anything for a sore throat?" This large collection of phrases was not found in the Phrase Book section where I originally looked for them, but in the section for French-English and English-French dictionaries. I spent most of my time using these features. The light weight compact devise fit neatly in my pocket. It had a large enough vocabulary to be actually useful - a common criticism of the less expensive models. The audio gave me a reliable indication of correct pronunciation. My French hosts had fun with it too. Bottom line - I wanted a model that worked exactly like the online tools, but it isn't that sort of tool. Still, it was a lot easier to pack around than a small computer and was, in the end, an acceptable compromise.

Review of Franklin/Merriam-Webster's MWD-450 and MWD-1440 electronic dictionaries1. Lookups are slow on the MWD-450 (4-8 seconds is typical); response times are much better on the MWD-1440.2. Definitions are shorter and simpler (often over simplified) on the MWD-450. The MWD-450 is probably better for a younger child (under 12), while the MWD-1440 should be better for teenagers.3. The MWD-450 is missing many literary words and also some words that are important for understanding current events (e.g., "anti-Semitism" and "globalism"). The MWD-1440's dictionary, which is somewhat larger, contains "anti-Semitism" but not "globalism".4. Displays on the two models have the same physical size, but the MWD-1440 displays more lines (5 lines instead of 3) using smaller and somewhat harder-to-read text.5. Related word forms are not always shown. Here are two examples:(A) If one looks up the word "naive", the noun form is shown as "naiveness". "Naivete", which is preferrable to "naiveness", is not listed as an alternative noun form. (One can, however, look up "naivete" separately).(B) The MWD-450 recognizes "auspices" as a plural noun, but does not recognize the singular form "auspice".6.
